Stay for the Purpose of Employment without a Work Permit and Confirmation of Employment Registration in Bosnia and Herzegovina – FORM 17

The Law on Foreigners in Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” No. 88/2015, 34/2021, and 63/2023) regulates stay for the purpose of employment without a work permit and confirmation of employment in Article 77.

Foreigners residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina based on a visa, visa-free, or previously approved temporary stay can work in Bosnia and Herzegovina without a work permit for up to 90 days per year if they perform tasks such as: a) key personnel in a legal entity holding a higher position in management, …; b) university professors invited by higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina,…; c) artists and technical staff, i.e., authors and performers of opera, ballet, drama, and other theater performances or concerts, visual and other cultural events or authors and performers in the field of music…; d) experts in the field of cultural heritage protection, library science, and archiving; e) foreigners sent by a foreign employer…; f) foreigners coming to Bosnia and Herzegovina for professional improvement…; g) foreigners performing tasks related to the delivery, assembly, and servicing of machinery or equipment; h) foreigners participating as lecturers in organized professional gatherings, seminars, and others.

Additionally, foreigners residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina based on a visa, visa-free, previously approved temporary stay, or temporary stay for employment without a work permit can work in Bosnia and Herzegovina without a work permit if they perform tasks such as: a) founders of a business entity…; b) experts, teachers, and lecturers…; c) civilian, police, and military officials…; d) members of scientific international missions…; e) officials of religious communities…; f) foreign correspondents accredited in Bosnia and Herzegovina…; g) foreigners who, based on a contract with the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or the Ministry, perform tasks for the needs of defense, the legal system, or state security or specialize in those areas, and more.
