Cartels from the perspective of business entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Competition Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Jean Monnet Center Of Excellence South And Eastern European Competition Law (hereinafter referred to as the Center) strives, among other things, to establish a center of excellence for EU competition and state aid law in Southeast Europe and thus create missing links between academic institutions from Eastern Europe and beyond. This Centre would be a regional hub and focal point for academic research, teaching, debate and reflection in the field of EU law on competition and state aid.

It will bring together prominent academic and competition law experts from a total of eight (8) countries, including two EU Member States (Croatia and Italy), three EU candidate countries (Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania), and three EU partner countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova and Tajikistan).

The ultimate and long-term goal of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence is to establish a research and teaching center (Institute) for EU competition law in Southeast Europe (SEE), with strong regional sub-centers in Osijek, Sarajevo, Tirana and Skopje.

In this context, on 28 November 2023 in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo, and prof. Kanita Imamović-Čizmić, Full Professor at the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Law, Bosnia and Herzegovina, a full-day workshop was organized at the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo on Challenges of Competition Law in South and Southeast European Countries (https://jmcoe-competition.com.hr/2023/11/30/see-jean-monnet-center-of-excellence-in-competition-law-sarajevo-meeting/).

Expert associate of this office, MA iur. Ana Raguž has, with the support of a lawyer trainee, law graduate Amila Haračić at the invitation of the distinguished professor Kanita Imamović-Čizmić, full professor of the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Law, covered the topic of Cartels from the perspective of business entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and took an active part in the mentioned workshop together with renowned professors of the Faculty of Law in Osijek, the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, members of the Commission for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Serbia, the President of the Agency for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Croatia and other eminent participants from the region.
